FRIENDS ACADEMY IS a member of the New York State School Music Association. This association promotes excellence in music education. It runs a series of adjudicated music festivals, and all Friends Academy student musicians are eligible to participate. Students are given the opportunity to perform a prepared piece before a judge to receive a written evaluation and grade. For older students, these grades weigh heavily on the acceptance into the next year’s All-County and All-State organizations.
