THE LOWER SCHOOL at Friends Academy, Play Group through fifth grade, fosters growth in the emotional, intellectual, social and physical development of each child. The school’s goal is to ensure that each child develops a solid sense of self, a love of learning, and a curiosity for life.

Quaker beliefs permeate life in the Lower School, with an emphasis on the discovery of each student’s unique gifts. Meeting for Worship is introduced in Play Group through daily sharing of happy thoughts, evolving until second grade, when the students are ready for weekly Meeting for Worship at the Matinecock Meeting House.

Children in the Lower School at Friends Academy enjoy a fun and challenging program, learning the basics with enrichment integrated throughout the curriculum at every level. Quaker values influence every day’s activities as children grow and develop, becoming happy, productive members of the community.
