Mission Statement
In addition to the participation in theater, music, and dance that the Lincoln Center Institute offers, and that are provided by the Theater Department and individual classroom experiences, it has been the goal of the Cultural Arts Committee to supplement that exposure with other professional performers of high quality to enrich our children’s cultural experience. A committee of interested and dynamic parents from a variety of professional backgrounds researches and gathers information regarding possible performances and other cultural opportunities, including workshops by guest artists. Together we discuss the best ways in which to allocate our resources to provide optimal programming for our children, and we form decisions by consensus.
We also collaborate as closely as possible with the principals and faculty of the Lower, Middle, Upper Schools and and the Director of Theater to elicit their suggestions and support. The result is the assembling of theater groups, dance companies, puppetry companies, and individual performers, some of which have national and international recognition, that usually dovetail with the curriculum of the Friends Academy students.
The Cultural Arts Committee welcomes the opportunity to provide many enriching cultural experiences for the students of Friends Academy.
